Hebrew Atbash Cipher
Mirror Hebrew letters with the 22-letter aleph-to-tav alphabet. This page opens with בבל, which becomes ששכ, and displays the complete substitution table. Final letter forms, vowel points and punctuation pass through unchanged; applying the same mirror twice returns exactly what you typed.

Aleph becomes tav and bet becomes shin, which is where the name atbash comes from: those four letters, in that order. The five final forms of kaf, mem, nun, pe and tsadi are not among the 22 letters, so they are carried through unchanged, as are vowel points, Latin letters and punctuation.
The full substitution table
Every letter of Hebrew א-ת, and what it becomes. The pairs your text uses are marked, and reading the table upwards gives the same answer, because the mapping is a mirror rather than a shift.

Common questions
- How does Hebrew Atbash work?
- Pair the first letter aleph with the last tav, then bet with shin, and continue inward through the 22 letters. That first pair of pairs gives the name Atbash. The same operation encodes and decodes.
- What happens to final forms?
- Final kaf, mem, nun, pe and tsadi pass through unchanged. This is a literal 22-letter mirror rather than final-form normalization, so applying it twice restores the original exactly.
- Are Hebrew vowel points changed?
- No. Vowel points and other characters outside the selected 22 letters keep their original code points and positions. The result is character substitution, not a pronunciation or language translation.
- Can I inspect every substitution?
- The full table shows all 22 pairs and highlights the letters used by your input. The Applied twice readout verifies the round trip for the current text.
Exact substitution: each letter maps to its mirror in the chosen alphabet, and the full table is on the page so you can check any letter by eye. Case is kept, anything outside the alphabet is passed through, and applying it a second time returns the original exactly. Atbash has one fixed, public key: it is a puzzle cipher for reading and teaching, and it keeps nothing secret.
