How do I remove blank pages from a PDF?

Open the PDF and press Find blank pages. Each suggested page is listed beside its preview with a Remove box; tick the ones you want gone, then press Save organized PDF. A suggested page you do not tick stays in the file.

How does it decide a page is blank?

Each page is drawn at 600 pixels on its long side. A pixel counts as a mark when it is at least 32 levels darker than the paper's own colour, with a 2% margin left out for scanner edges, and a page is suggested when its marks cover less than 0.002% of it at Strict, 0.02% at Medium or 0.2% at Loose. Grey or cream paper is judged against itself, not against white.

Will it delete a page with a faint pencil mark or a light scan?

Not on its own. A faint mark can measure as almost nothing: a thin line at 85% white covers about 0.007% of an A4 page, under the Medium threshold, so that page is suggested. It still stays in the file until you tick it, and Strict suggests only pages under 0.002%.

Can I reorder, rotate or extract pages as well?

Yes. Move a page earlier or later with its arrow buttons or by dragging its tile, turn it a quarter turn either way, or select pages and save only those with Extract selected. A turn adds to any turn the page already has in the file.

Does the text stay selectable after saving?

Yes. Pages are copied into the new file as they are, not redrawn as images, so their text, drawings and links between the pages you keep stay as they were. Bookmarks and the document's title are not carried into the new file.

Why do some pages have no preview?

The previewer here cannot draw images stored with JBIG2, CCITT fax or JPEG 2000 compression, and this tool does not draw a page holding an image over 50 megapixels or a part it cannot check within its size limits. Those pages say why on their tile, are copied unchanged, and are never suggested as blank.
