How do you solve a logic grid puzzle?

Every value goes with exactly one value in each other category. Read a clue, put a no in each cell it rules out and a yes where it confirms a pair. A yes rules out the rest of its row and column in that block, and this grid fills those nos in for you. Then link the blocks: if Ada owns the cat and the cat's owner is 8, Ada is 8. Hint shows the next step and the reason for it whenever you are stuck.
