Common questions

Can I pause one timer without affecting the others?

Yes. Each timer has its own duration, deadline and paused remaining time. Select Pause on one card to stop only that countdown. Resume gives it a new deadline based on the remaining time; other timers keep their existing deadlines.

How do group controls work?

Choose All timers or a named group, then start/resume, pause or reset the matching timers. Start/resume skips finished timers, which require an explicit Restart. Reset clears progress and laps and leaves the affected timers idle. Group controls do not hide other timers.

What happens while the tab is suspended or the device sleeps?

Running timers use wall-clock deadlines. When the page runs again, it compares the current clock with those deadlines, marks elapsed timers finished and records each completion once. Background suspension can delay sound and visual updates. Clock changes can change the remaining time; display is clamped to the original duration.

Will timers survive a reload?

Enable Remember timers in this browser to save names, groups, durations, running deadlines, paused remaining time, laps and the completion log locally. Restoration reads saved state without rewriting it. Expired deadlines appear finished; restoring them does not start a new run or replay old sounds. Deliberate timer changes and completions of runs started here update a usable saved record, retaining unknown fields and unrelated newer records. Conflicting or unusable saved data is kept until you explicitly remove it. Sound stays off after reload; use one tab to avoid competing changes.

How do I enable completion sound?

Press Enable sound and test to unlock browser audio and hear a test tone. Completion events then play a short tone while audio is available. A closed page cannot play an alarm, and browsers, system mute or suspended audio may prevent it. The visible finished state and completion log do not require sound.

What do laps and the completion log record?

Record lap captures elapsed active time for that run, excluding pauses, with up to 100 snapshots per timer. The completion log retains the latest 200 runs, recording the due deadline and when the page observed completion. Old completions are not sounded or reannounced as new after recovery. Reset and restart clear that timer’s lap list.

Can I save a reusable set of timers?

Export configuration hands the browser complete JSON containing timer names, groups and full durations. Import replaces current timers and the completion log, loading every imported timer idle. Configuration excludes countdown progress, sound and history. Timer actions, draft changes, hiding or navigation cancel a pending import. Failed downloads expose complete selectable JSON so you can save it manually; a browser handoff does not confirm that a file was saved.

What limits and editing rules apply?

Create up to 50 timers, each from one second to exactly seven days. Timer names support 80 characters and group names 40. Editing a timer leaves it running until Save and reset timer replaces its settings and resets it to idle. Removing a timer keeps its existing completion entries; there is no undo for removal or configuration replacement.

Can I use several countdowns for cooking, lessons or activities?

Yes. Give each countdown a name, set its duration and optionally group related tasks, then start them separately or together. A group runs independent countdowns simultaneously; it does not schedule sequential workout intervals. Laps are elapsed snapshots within countdown runs, not independent count-up stopwatches. This browser page does not configure phone, watch or voice-assistant timer apps.
