Divisor and rounding policy
5000 cm³/kg is an editable arithmetic example, not a current carrier policy. Supply the divisor and rounding rules that apply to your calculation. Switching the basis clears the divisor and increments so they cannot silently change meaning.

Common questions
- How is dimensional weight calculated?
- Convert length, width and height into the divisor’s length units, apply any chosen rounding to each dimension, multiply them, and divide by the divisor. A 10 × 10 × 10 cm package with divisor 5000 cm³/kg has dimensional weight 0.2 kg. If its actual weight is 0.5 kg, the maximum is 0.5 kg before weight rounding.
- What divisor should I enter?
- Enter the divisor applicable to your own calculation in the displayed basis: cm³/kg or in³/lb. The starting value 5000 cm³/kg is an editable arithmetic example, not a current carrier tariff. Switching the divisor basis clears the divisor and rounding increments so a number cannot silently change units.
- Which input units are supported?
- Dimensions accept cm, mm, m, inches and feet. Actual weight accepts kg, grams, pounds and ounces. Conversions are exact: one inch is 2.54 cm, one pound is 0.45359237 kg and one ounce is one sixteenth of a pound. All conversions occur before divisor arithmetic. Changing an input-unit selection reinterprets its unchanged numeric value.
- In what order is rounding applied?
- Each converted dimension is optionally rounded up or to the nearest supplied increment, with half-up ties. The resulting volume is divided by the divisor. The larger of dimensional and converted actual weight is then optionally rounded using the weight policy. That chargeable weight is multiplied by quantity, and row totals are summed without another rounding step.
- Can nearest rounding reduce a weight or dimension?
- Yes. Nearest rounding can lower the maximum weight or reduce a small dimension to zero. The breakdown calls out these cases. This tool applies your stated arithmetic policy; it does not decide whether that policy matches a carrier’s current rules. Use upward rounding when that is the policy you intend.
- Are displayed numbers exact?
- Calculations, comparisons and policy rounding use exact integer fractions. Display values round half up to six decimal places, so a very small nonzero value can display as zero. The breakdown exposes exact fractions, and CSV includes exact converted/used dimensions and exact row/combined total fractions. Rounded displays are never used as calculation inputs.
- How do quantities and multiple rows work?
- Each row represents identical packages, and actual weight is entered per package. Quantity is a whole number from 1 to 1,000,000. The rounded chargeable weight per package is multiplied by quantity before summing the rows. Up to 500 rows are supported. Invalid package or policy values block the combined total and exports.
- Is the worksheet saved or uploaded?
- No. It stays in browser memory and is lost on reload. Undo/redo retains 50 edits. CSV exports every package, its input units, calculation policy, results and exact total fraction.
