What kinds of math questions are in the quiz?

Five topics, or all five mixed: arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication and exact division), place value (the value of a digit, the digit in a place, building a number from its parts, and rounding), fractions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and a fraction of a whole number), one-step equations such as n + 12 = 30, and proportions, including short rate problems. The numbers each question is built from come from a range you set, anywhere from 0 to 1,000,000; a dividend or the whole number in a fraction of a number can go past it.

Is 6/8 marked right when the answer is 3/4?

Yes. Every answer is compared as an exact value, so 3/4, 6/8, 9/12 and 0.75 are all accepted, and a mixed number such as 1 1/4 counts for 5/4. A rounded decimal is not exact, so 0.333 is not accepted for 1/3. An arithmetic, place value, equation or proportion question asks for a whole number, so typing 56/8 back for 56 ÷ 8 gets a note instead of a mark; in the fractions topic a fraction equal to the answer, such as 24/4 for 6, is accepted.

What happens if I reveal the answer?

The answer and its working appear, and the question is marked assisted. You can still type the answer in to practice it, but an assisted question is left out of your unassisted score and does not count toward the target. The unassisted score is right answers out of the questions you answered without help, so 7 right and 1 wrong is 7 of 8, 87.5%.

How is the target score worked out?

The target is a percentage of every question in the quiz, rounded up to a whole question, because part of a question cannot be answered. 85% of 25 questions is 21.25, so the target is 22 right, while 80% of 25 is exactly 20. Only unassisted right answers count toward it.

Can a whole class take the same math quiz?

Yes. The same seed with the same topic, numbers and number of questions deals the same questions in the same order, with the same four choices, so a teacher can read out a seed and everyone gets the same quiz. Each person's answers stay in their own browser.
