How do I make a soccer lineup?

Pick a formation from the Formation list, then add your players under Players, one at a time or by pasting a list with one player per line, such as 7 Leo. New players fill the open spots first, from the keeper forward, and the rest sit on the bench. Drag the shirts where you want them, then download the PNG to share it.

Can I use it for 7v7 or 9v9 youth soccer?

Yes. The Formation list has 8 shapes for 11 a side, 3 for 9 a side, 3 for 7 a side and 2 for 5 a side. The diagram keeps the full-size pitch markings for every size, so read it as a plan of who plays where rather than a scale drawing of a smaller field.

How do rolling substitutions work here?

Under Substitutions, pick who comes off, who comes on and the minute, such as 60 or 45+2, and the change is logged, like 60' 16 Zak on for 9 Rui (ST). With Rolling substitutions ticked, a player who came off can come back on later; untick it and the page refuses to bring them back, naming who came off and when. Undo last substitution reverses the most recent one while those two players are still where it left them. Dragging on the pitch is a line-up change and is not logged.

Can I move players without dragging?

Yes. Tab to a shirt and press the arrow keys to move it one metre, or five with Shift. Enter picks a player up, and Enter on a second shirt swaps the two, or on a bench player brings that player in. On a phone or from the keyboard, the Spot list beside each name under Players puts that player on any spot: whoever is there swaps places with them or goes to the bench.

What happens to my positions if I change formation?

If you have dragged players off their starting spots, or the new formation has fewer spots than you have players on the pitch, the page shows a preview first: dashed rings where everyone would stand, and a list of who changes role and who goes to the bench. Nothing moves until you press Apply, and Keep my positions leaves everything as it was. Each new spot takes the nearest player, closest pairs first, so anyone already standing on one of the new spots, the keeper's included, stays put.

Are the example names real players?

No. The page opens on 16 made-up first names so the pitch, the bench and the substitution log have something to show. Each one is tagged as an example until you rename it. While any remain, the PNG and SVG carry a line saying the names are examples, not a real team, the copied text says the same, and the roster file marks those players. The remove every example player link clears them in one step.

Where is my lineup saved?

In your browser. Once you change something, the current lineup is remembered on this device where the browser keeps storage, and Save lineup keeps named copies, one for each team or match. To move a lineup to another device, download the roster file (.json) and open it there with Open roster file. Nothing is uploaded.

Soccer Lineup Maker
