Random Object Generator

Press Draw again and this hands you everyday things: 328 objects written for this tool, each tagged by where you would go looking for it and how hard it is to put on paper. That second tag is what the word lists on this search do not carry, and it matters, because a teapot and a bicycle are not the same ask of a beginner with a pencil. Narrow a draw to the kitchen, to easy objects, or to things small enough to carry, set how many you want, and print the set as cards for a class or a game. The draw takes without replacement, so no object comes up twice in one round, and asking for more than the filter holds gives you everything it has with the count stated rather than a repeat.

Press Space or Draw again for a fresh set. A draw takes without replacement, so the same object cannot come up twice in one round, and Print cards lays the set out as cards, two to a row, with the tags underneath.

One per line, or separated by commas: up to 300 of them, 60 characters each. They replace our list entirely while there is anything here, and the room and difficulty filters do not apply to them, because they are your words and carry no tags. A repeated word is kept once.

The list is written here, and the tags are a filter rather than a fact. All 328 objects were typed out for this tool and chosen to be recognisable and drawable, with no brands and nothing you would have to explain first. Where a thing lives and how hard it is to draw are judgements made while the line was written, so they narrow a draw for a game rather than classify anything. Everything runs in your browser, and your filters and your own list stay in it.

Common questions

Where do the objects come from?
All 328 were typed out for this tool from ordinary knowledge of what sits in a kitchen, a garage or a schoolbag. No other generator's word list was copied and nothing is fetched while you use it. Each line had to pass one test before it went in: could somebody who has never seen this page picture the thing and put it on paper. That rules out brands, abstractions and anything you would have to explain first, which is why the list is everyday objects rather than a dictionary of nouns.
What do easy, medium and hard actually mean?
They describe drawing the object, and they are a judgement made while the line was written rather than a measurement. Easy is a handful of strokes a beginner can finish, medium wants a minute and some shape to get right, and hard means detail, perspective or both. Nothing in the tool scores an object or learns from how your group did with it, so treat the labels as a way to keep a round fair rather than as a fact about the object.
Can the same object come up twice?
Not inside one draw. The set is dealt without replacement, so every object on the stage is a different one, however many you ask for. Press Draw again and you get a fresh set that can overlap with the last one, because each press is its own round. If you ask for more objects than the current filter holds, the tool hands back everything it has and says so under the stage rather than repeating anything to make up the number.
What does the room label mean if an object turns up in several rooms?
It is where a player would go looking for the thing, not a claim about where it belongs. A ladder is filed under anywhere and a bicycle under outdoors rather than under the garage it actually sleeps in, because that is how somebody picks a filter for a game. The Size control is the same kind of shortcut: it splits things a person could pick up from furniture and fittings that stay where they are, which is useful when you want objects a child can fetch from the next room.
Can I use my own list of objects?
Yes. Paste them into the box below the tool, one per line or separated by commas, and they replace our list entirely while anything is in there, up to 300 words of 60 characters each. A word repeated in what you paste is kept once, so a draw without replacement stays honest. The room and difficulty filters do not apply to your words, because the tool did not write them and will not pretend to know how hard they are to draw. Your list stays in this browser.
How do I use this for a drawing game or a classroom?
Leave the room on Any, set the difficulty to Easy for a mixed group, ask for nine, and press Print cards: the set prints as cards with the tags underneath, two to a row, ready to cut up. The space bar deals a fresh set without reaching for the mouse. For a longer session, pin one room so a round has a theme, or turn Size to Can carry so every object is something a player could actually go and find.

Every object is drawn from a list written for this tool, chosen to be recognisable and drawable. The room and difficulty labels are a filter for a game, not a classification of anything. A draw takes without replacement, so no object repeats inside one round, and asking for more than the filter holds returns everything it has and says so.
