Cribbage Hand Calculator
Choose four hand cards and a starter to inspect every scoring combination. Keep a local peg board for two to four players, confirm game points, and export or print the complete record.
Four hand cards and one starter
Aces are low. Face cards count as ten toward fifteens. A starter jack’s two-point heels award is not part of this hand total; record it separately as manual game points if applicable. Hand calculations never update the board automatically.
15 scoring combinations
Fifteen: 165♥ + 5♦ + 5♣ = 25♥ + J♠ = 25♦ + J♠ = 25♣ + J♠ = 25♥ + 5♦ + 5♠ = 25♥ + 5♣ + 5♠ = 25♦ + 5♣ + 5♠ = 2J♠ + 5♠ = 2
Pair: 125♥ + 5♦ = 25♥ + 5♣ = 25♥ + 5♠ = 25♦ + 5♣ = 25♦ + 5♠ = 25♣ + 5♠ = 2
Run: 0
Flush: 0
Nobs: 1J♠ + 5♠ = 1
Only the longest available runs are counted; distinct card combinations produce multiple runs when ranks repeat. Four matching hand suits score four outside the crib, or five when the starter matches. A crib flush requires all five. Nobs is a jack in the hand matching the starter’s suit.
Local peg board
Each lane goes left-to-right, then right-to-left. Filled peg: current total. Outlined peg: total before that player’s last entry. Pegs can overlap after a zero-point entry. Scroll the board on small screens; exact totals remain visible above. Reaching the target does not lock the record or declare a winner.
Confirm points for the record
This adds the displayed hand total once for each click. Confirm only when you intend to record it; identical hands may legitimately occur again.
Manual points can include pegging, heels or corrections from -1,000 to 1,000; totals cannot go below zero. Up to 500 entries and 50 undo/redo changes are kept in this page’s memory. Player count can change only on an empty board; changing it clears undo history. Changing the target preserves points.

TXT and printable records include current totals, the current hand calculation and every confirmed entry with its saved hand breakdown. The current hand is clearly separate from recorded points. CSV includes all entries, running totals and snapshots. Renaming a player preserves the name recorded on earlier entries. Formula-like text is neutralized in CSV. Export before leaving; nothing is automatically saved.

Common questions
- How is a cribbage hand scored?
- Select four distinct hand cards and a different starter. The calculator lists every fifteen for two points, every pair for two, each longest distinct run, a qualifying flush, and one point for nobs. Face cards count as ten toward fifteens; aces are low.
- Which hand scores 29 points?
- The hand 5H, 5D, 5C and JS with starter 5S scores 29: eight fifteens give 16 points, six pairs give 12, and the jack of the starter’s suit gives one for nobs. Replacing JS with JH removes nobs and gives 28.
- How are multiple runs counted?
- The calculator enumerates distinct card combinations and keeps only the longest runs present. With ranks 3, 3, 4, 5 and 6, two separate four-card runs score eight points. With 3, 3, 4, 4 and 5, four three-card runs score twelve. Shorter runs contained in a longer run are not counted again.
- What changes when scoring the crib?
- A normal hand gets four flush points when its four hand cards share a suit, or five if the starter also matches. In the crib, all five must share the suit for a five-point flush. Four matching hand cards with an off-suit starter score no crib flush.
- Are nobs and heels included?
- Nobs is included when a jack in the hand matches the starter’s suit. Heels, the dealer’s two-point award for a jack starter, is separate from the hand score and is not included automatically. Record it as manual game points if it applies.
- How does the peg board work?
- Choose two to four players and a 61- or 121-point target. Confirm the calculated hand points for a selected player, or enter manual pegging/game points. Filled pegs show current totals and outlined pegs show the prior total for that player. Numeric scores can exceed the target; marker positions stop at the finish. Reaching the target does not automatically declare a winner or lock the board.
- Can I undo points or correct a total?
- Undo and redo keep the latest 50 board changes. Manual adjustments may range from -1,000 to 1,000, but a total cannot go below zero. Clear board is undoable. Player count may change only on an empty board and clears undo history. Up to 500 confirmed entries are supported.
- Can I print or save the game record?
- Download TXT, CSV or printable HTML, or open the print view. Records include all confirmed entries and saved hand breakdowns. The current hand calculation is shown separately and is never added automatically. Names, cards and history remain in browser memory and are not saved automatically; export before leaving.
