Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Building the resume, saving it in this browser, exporting the file and printing to PDF are all free, with no watermark and no account, and that core job is never gated. Like every tool on this site it needs no sign-up. If paid extras ever exist they will sit alongside the free tool, never in front of it.

Where is my resume stored?

In this browser, and nowhere else. It is written to your browser's local storage a moment after each change, under one key, and it is there the next time you open the page on the same browser and device. Nothing is sent to a server. Clear removes it after a second click to confirm, and clearing your browser's site data removes it too. To keep a copy, or move it to another browser, use Export file: it writes a small JSON file of everything you typed, and Import reads that file back.

How do I get a PDF?

Choose Print to PDF. That opens your browser's own print dialog with everything except the resume removed from the page, sized to Letter or A4, whichever you picked. Set the destination to Save as PDF and confirm. The file is written by your own machine. Page breaks follow the browser's rules, so the fit line under the preview is an estimate: it counts pages from the preview's height at true size, and a heading the browser refuses to strand at the foot of a page can push a line over.

Is the resume ATS-friendly?

The layout is the plain kind applicant tracking software reads best: real text rather than an image, one column, no tables, no text boxes, section headings in ordinary words like Experience and Education, and dates written out. Every layout here, including Modern and Compact, keeps that structure and only changes type and spacing. What an ATS actually extracts depends on the system, so for a form that asks you to paste, use Copy as text: it gives the same content as plain text in the same order.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The section list and the preview stack one above the other, the fields sit under them, and every button is sized for a thumb. The resume saves in the phone's browser the same way. Printing to PDF works wherever the phone's browser offers Save as PDF or Share from the print screen, which iOS Safari and Android Chrome both do; the preview is scaled to fit the screen, and the PDF prints at true size.

Can I change the order of the sections?

Yes. Each section in the list has Up and Down buttons, and the preview reorders as you click. Contact stays at the top because it is the header. Empty sections are left off the paper, so an unused Projects section costs nothing.

What does the sample contain?

An invented product designer with invented employers, so you can see all three layouts filled before typing a word. Load sample keeps your layout, paper and accent and replaces the text; nothing in it refers to a real person or a real company.
