Truth or Dare Generator
Press for a card, hand the device on, and keep going: this generator deals from 400 cards written for this page, 200 truths and 200 dares, and every one was read back against a single rule before it shipped. Nothing here is sexual, nothing involves alcohol or anyone's body, no dare asks a player to run, climb or be touched, and no question corners someone into telling a secret. That is what makes it usable in a room of mixed ages, from a family table to a classroom. Cards are dealt without repeating until the deck runs out, the seed on screen fixes the order so two rooms can play the same game on two sofas, and Pass sits beside Next card at the same size with no forfeit attached. The all ages deck is everything; narrowing it to kids, family, friends or party gives 180, 320, 300 and 270 cards with both piles shuffled together.
400 cards in this deck. Press Next card, or the space bar, for the first one.
Press Space for the next card without reaching for the mouse. The seed is what fixes the order: the same deck and the same seed deal the same cards in the same sequence, on any device, so two rooms can play the same game. Type a seed and press Enter to start the deck from it, or press New deal for a fresh four-digit one. Nothing repeats until the deck runs out, and the page says so when it does.
Players and your own cards
Both are optional, and both stay in this browser. Nothing here is uploaded, and there is no account.
Commas or line breaks. Each card is then addressed to the next player in the list.
One card a line, starting with truth: or dare: so the card knows which pile it joins. Up to 140 characters each. Your cards are dealt in every deck, because you chose them for this room.
- Nothing about alcohol, drinking games or anything a player has to put in their mouth.
- Nothing sexual, and no questions about crushes, kissing or who likes whom.
- Nothing about anyone's body, weight, looks or clothing.
- No contact: no touching, no tickling, no carrying and nothing that needs another player to agree on the spot.
- Nothing that could hurt: no running, climbing, standing on furniture, throwing or anything done with your eyes covered.
- No messages, calls or posts to anyone who is not in the room.
- No secrets, no passwords and no question that corners a player into telling one.
- Nothing that makes one player the joke.
Common questions
- Is this truth or dare generator safe for kids?
- Yes, and that is the design rather than a setting you have to find. All 400 built-in cards were written for this page and read back against one rule: nothing physical that could hurt, nothing sexual, and nothing that pressures a player into revealing something. There are no dares involving alcohol, food or anyone's body, no touching, no running or climbing, no standing on furniture and no messages or calls to anyone outside the room. The Kids deck narrows it further to the simplest 180 cards, 90 truths and 90 dares, for players of about seven and up. The page prints the full list of what the deck leaves out, under the cards, so you can read it before you hand a device to a room of children.
- Can the same card come up twice?
- Not inside a session. Every card that has been dealt stays out of the deal until the deck runs out, and when it does the page says so and names how many cards the deck held rather than quietly starting again. Press New deal to shuffle the whole deck back with a fresh seed. Switching the pile or the deck does not bring back what you have already seen either: the session carries across, so moving from the all ages deck to the party deck deals cards you have not had yet.
- What is the seed for?
- The seed fixes the order. The same deck and the same seed always deal the same cards in the same sequence, on any device, so two rooms can play the same game by typing the same number. The three worked examples under the stage are dealt from seed 4410: type 4410 into the Seed field and press Enter to start the deck from it, and the first row comes up with the pile set to Truth, the other two with it set to Dare. A seed can be any word or number up to 40 characters and is never shortened behind your back, so the seed on screen is always the seed that dealt. New deal picks a fresh four-digit seed and starts the deck again.
- How does passing work?
- You press Pass and the next card is dealt. No reason, no forfeit, no drink, no score and nothing kept against the player anywhere in the tool: there is no penalty in the model for a pass to cost. The card you passed does not come back in that session, and the session list marks it as passed so the room can see how the evening went. Pass sits next to Next card at the same size on purpose, because a pass that looks like the smaller button is not really a pass.
- Can I add my own truths and dares?
- Yes. Write one card a line in the box under the cards, each starting with truth: or dare: so the card knows which pile it joins, up to 140 characters each and up to 100 cards. A line with no pile marker is refused by line number rather than guessed at, because filing a question as a dare would hand it to a player as an instruction. Your cards are shuffled into every deck, because you chose them for this room, and they stay in this browser: nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
- Can I put the players in turn order?
- Type up to 24 names separated by commas or line breaks and each card is addressed to the next player in the list, so the stage reads Dare for Ana and the copied line and the session list carry the name too. Each name can be up to 32 characters. Leaving the field empty is a perfectly good answer: the game plays exactly the same and the card simply reads Truth or Dare.
- What is the difference between the decks?
- All ages is the whole deck, 400 cards with both piles shuffled together, and every card in it was written for a mixed room. Kids is the simplest 180. Family is the 320 that work with every generation at a table. Friends is the 300 for a group that already knows each other, and Party is the 270 with more energy for a bigger room. Choosing Truth or Dare on its own halves the count: 200 of each in the all ages deck, 90 of each in Kids.
- Do I need an account, and does anything leave this browser?
- No account, and nothing is uploaded. The cards, the deal, the names and anything you write run in the page itself. The only thing kept is a small record in this browser so the pile, the deck, the seed, your players, your own cards and the session so far, the passes included, are still there when you come back, and Start over at the top of the page forgets it. If storage is switched off the tool still deals cards, it simply opens fresh every time.
Cards are drawn without repeating inside a session, and the same deck and seed always deal the same order. Every built-in card was written for this page and read back against one rule: nothing physical that could hurt, nothing sexual, and nothing that pressures a player into revealing something. Passing is always available and carries no penalty. Cards you add stay in this browser.
