PDF Metadata Remover
Inspect a PDF's document Info fields and full XMP packets, choose what to remove, and optionally replace its Info title or author. The saved copy is reopened to verify its metadata and retained content before a download becomes available.

Up to 50 MB (50,000,000 bytes). Very complex PDFs can exceed processing limits even below 50 MB. Encrypted PDFs, signature fields and unsupported structures are refused with no verified output.

Accuracy. Removes selected PDF Info fields and whole XMP packets, then checks the saved PDF again. Page text, annotations, attachments and other hidden content may remain: this is not redaction or anonymization. Encrypted or unsupported PDFs produce an error and no download.
Common questions
- Which PDF metadata can I remove?
- You can select individual document Info fields, including Author, Creator, Producer, Title, dates and custom fields when present. XMP is shown as full raw XML and can be removed as whole packets, including supported page-level packets. The report lists exact before and after values and distinguishes removed, retained, replaced and added fields. It does not edit individual properties inside XMP.
- Can I keep the title or replace the author?
- Yes. Leave an Info field unchecked to retain it, or enter a replacement title or author. A nonempty replacement overrides that field's removal checkbox. Blank replacement inputs follow the checkbox selection. Replacements change Info only: retained XMP may still contain an older title or author.
- Does removing PDF metadata make a document anonymous?
- No. Page text, images, annotations, form values, attachments, document identifiers and other content may still identify people or sources. This tool removes selected Info metadata and whole XMP packets. It does not redact visible content or anonymize a document.
- Will the PDF's pages change?
- The tool checks the saved PDF's page count and compares reachable nonmetadata objects and raw stream bytes with the source, including page contents and resources. It does not rasterize pages. A failed verification produces no download. The PDF is rewritten, so its file bytes and size can change.
- Is my PDF uploaded or saved in this website's storage?
- No. Processing runs locally in a browser worker, with no PDF upload or saved draft. Your original file stays unchanged. Cancel stops the worker; choosing another file or clearing the workspace discards the prior report and prepared output.
- What are the file and processing limits?
- Input PDFs can be up to 50 MB, meaning 50,000,000 bytes. Processing also limits decompressed streams, structure complexity and metadata volume, and stops after 60 seconds. Encrypted PDFs, signature fields, unsupported metadata values or encodings, and damaged structures produce an explicit error with no verified download. Export a simpler, unsigned and unencrypted copy from the original app, then try again.
