How do I make a sight word worksheet from my own words?

Replace the example list with your words, one per line, up to 100 lines. Turn on the activities you want, such as Scramble, Tracing or Word search, and press Make worksheet: the page downloads the fonts it needs from this site, draws the sheet and shows each page beside your list. PDF, sheet and key saves the worksheet followed by its answer key; PDF, sheet only leaves the key out, for copies you hand out.

Which activities can a worksheet have?

Seven, and you can turn on as many as you like; each becomes its own section, in the order of the buttons. Scramble shuffles the letters of each word and leaves punctuation and apostrophes where they were. Tracing prints the word in dark letters, then light gray copies to trace across the row, then an empty ruled row to write on. Matching pairs each word with the text after its = sign, in sets of up to ten. Word search hides single words of 2 to 15 letters across, down or diagonally down to the right, never backwards, in grids 8 to 15 squares across with up to 12 words each. Fill in the blank turns [bracketed] words into blanks, with an optional word bank. Multiple choice takes 2 to 6 choices, with shuffling on or off. Open response prints each line with 1 to 6 answer lines.

Does the worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The key is made from the same tasks the sheet draws, so it cannot drift from it. Scramble lists each word, Matching gives the letter and its match, Word search gives each word's row, column and direction beside a grid that shows only the hidden words, Fill in the blank lists the bracketed answers in order, Multiple choice names the letter the starred answer landed on after the shuffle, and Open response prints the answer you typed after the = sign, or says no answer was supplied. Tracing has nothing to mark.

Can I print the same worksheet again next week?

Yes. The seed decides every shuffle, so the same list, settings and seed always give the same sheet and key; New seed deals fresh scrambles, grids and choice orders from the same list. Project .json saves the list, the settings and the seed as a file on your device, and Open project brings them back to edit. Your current draft also stays in this browser until you press Start over.

Why was one of my lines left out?

Every line left out is named with its line number and the reason. A line whose word, sentence or question repeats an earlier one, ignoring capital letters and extra spaces, is left out, even when its = match or its choices differ. So is a line with a character the chosen font does not have, such as a Chinese character in Roboto or a Cyrillic letter in Dancing Script, because printing it would give an empty box. A multiple-choice line needs exactly one choice marked with *, and a blank needs both of its brackets. Some lines only skip one activity: Scramble needs two different letters, and Word search takes single words of up to 15 letters, with nothing in them but letters, apostrophes and hyphens.

Can I use cursive letters on the worksheet?

Yes. Choose Cursive and every word, question and answer is drawn in Dancing Script, including the tracing rows; the headings, numbers and letters beside the choices stay in Roboto print. Both fonts are drawn into the PDF as outlines, so the sheet prints the same on a computer that has neither font installed.

Does it check spelling, grade level or reading level?

No. The sheet uses exactly what you type, so a misspelled word is printed misspelled and a wrong answer goes into the key as you wrote it. Nothing here judges whether a list suits a grade, a curriculum or a reading level; the Reading Level Checker linked below can score a passage's grade level separately.
