Holiday in a specific year
Holidays come from rules, not a list of dates. Christmas, Halloween and New Year are fixed; Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, Mother’s Day the second Sunday of May, Memorial Day the last Monday of May; Easter is the Western date from the Gregorian formula; Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. The moveable ones follow the US calendar. For a span between any two dates use the date calculator; for hours and minutes between two moments, the duration calculator.

Common questions

When is Thanksgiving?
US Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, so it falls between 22 and 28 November. In 2026 it is 26 November, in 2027 it is 25 November and in 2028 it is 23 November. Canadian Thanksgiving, the second Monday of October, is a different holiday and is not in the list.
How is the date computed?
From the rule, not a table. The tool finds the weekday of 1 November, steps forward to the first Thursday, then adds three weeks. The same rule gives the right date in any year, and Black Friday is worked out as the day after.
How is the countdown worked out?
The tool takes this year's Thanksgiving if it is still ahead or is today, otherwise next year's, and counts the whole calendar days from today in your time zone. The clock under the number counts down to midnight at the start of Thanksgiving Day where you are.
How many working days are there until Thanksgiving?
The Working days row counts the Mondays to Fridays after today up to and including Thanksgiving Day, which is itself a Thursday and so is counted. Public holidays are not taken out.
Can I count to Black Friday instead?
Yes. Black Friday is in the table of holidays under the result, computed as the day after Thanksgiving. Pick it there and the page counts to it.
Can I choose a specific year or keep a typed date fixed?
Use Holiday in a specific year and Count to this year to calculate the listed holiday in a four-digit year from 0001 to 9999. That result and any typed date stay fixed. Holiday buttons instead follow the next occurrence as your device’s local calendar advances. A past fixed target reads days ago. Rule dates are Gregorian/US calendar calculations, not an official historical holiday record.
Why can the hours figure differ from the live clock?
The hours figure is civil days multiplied by 24. The live clock measures elapsed time to device-local midnight and can differ across daylight-saving transitions; on the target day it counts down to the next midnight. There is no destination time-zone or custom event-time control.

Days are counted on the civil calendar from today in your time zone, and holidays are computed from their rules (Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, Easter from the Gregorian formula), within years 0001–9999. Listed US rules and Western Easter are calendar calculations, not an official historical holiday record. Live hours and seconds use your device clock; civil days × 24 is a separate fixed-hour total.
