Strikethrough Text Generator
Cross out text anywhere, including apps with no strikethrough button: the tool adds a combining long stroke after every character, so the line runs through the whole word and travels with the text when you paste it. Underline is the second row, made the same way with a combining low line. The marks go on whole characters, so an emoji or an accented letter is struck once rather than split apart, and line breaks are left clean.

The struck alphabet
Each letter followed by U+0336, combining long stroke overlay. Digits, punctuation, spaces and every other character take the same mark; only line breaks and tabs are left bare.

Common questions
- How does strikethrough text work without formatting?
- Unicode has a combining long stroke overlay, U+0336, that draws through whichever character it follows. The tool puts one after each character of your text, spaces included, so the stroke runs unbroken through the whole line: l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶. It is a character, not a style, so it survives pasting into plain text fields.
- Why does the strikethrough disappear in some apps?
- Some apps and most username fields strip combining marks when you paste, and a few fonts draw the stroke slightly off the letter. Try it in a draft first. Where it is stripped, the text comes through plain and readable rather than broken, because only the marks are removed.
- Does it work on emoji and accented letters?
- Yes, and it keeps them whole. The mark is added after each character as a reader counts them, so a family emoji or a flag gets one stroke rather than being cut into its parts, and an accented letter keeps its accent under the stroke.
- How do I remove strikethrough from text?
- The strokes are separate characters, so deleting them one at a time is slow. Paste the struck text into the zalgo text generator and press Un-zalgo: it removes every combining mark, the strikethrough stroke included, and gives you the plain text back.
- Does the underline row work the same way?
- Yes, with the combining low line, U+0332, after each character instead of the long stroke: l̲i̲k̲e̲ ̲t̲h̲i̲s̲. The same apps that strip one strip the other.
Bold, italic, script, gothic, outline, monospace and bubble styles are real Unicode letters that paste anywhere text is allowed; small caps, small text and upside-down use lookalike characters, and strikethrough and underline add combining marks that a few apps remove. Letters with no styled form are left as typed.
