- How does strikethrough text work without formatting?
- U+0336, combining long stroke overlay, is added after each grapheme, including spaces. The destination font draws it; strokes may not join continuously in every font. It is prepared Unicode text rather than native rich-text formatting.
- Why does the strikethrough disappear in some apps?
- Some apps and most username fields strip combining marks when you paste, and a few fonts draw the stroke slightly off the letter. Try it in a draft first. Where it is stripped, the text comes through plain and readable rather than broken, because only the marks are removed.
- Does it work on emoji and accented letters?
- Yes, and it keeps them whole. The mark is added after each character as a reader counts them, so a family emoji or a flag gets one stroke rather than being cut into its parts, and an accented letter keeps its accent under the stroke.
- How do I remove strikethrough from text?
- A manual cleanup in Zalgo Text Generator’s Un-zalgo removes combining marks, including U+0336. It also removes combining accents, so it is not a lossless undo. Keep your original text.
- Does the underline row work the same way?
- Underline adds U+0332, combining low line, after each grapheme. Fields may strip or display those marks differently. For bold or italic strikethrough, first copy that style, paste it into the input, select Strike and copy Strikethrough in a manual second pass.
- Can I paste this into a bio, display name or game?
- Copy a row and test it in the destination’s draft field. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Discord, WhatsApp and games have their own accepted-character, length and display rules, which may change. This tool prepares Unicode text; it does not integrate with those services or guarantee that a handle is accepted.
- Will search and screen readers treat this like ordinary text?
- Styled Unicode letters are different characters. Search, normalization, spell-checking and screen-reader pronunciation vary by app. Keep a plain version nearby when the wording needs to be read or found reliably.
Bold, italic, script, gothic, outline, monospace and bubble styles are real Unicode letters rather than font formatting; small caps, small text and upside-down use lookalike characters, and strikethrough and underline add combining marks. Display, acceptance, search and screen-reader pronunciation depend on the destination. Letters with no styled form are left as typed; most styles map only ASCII letters and selected digits.
