One score, two boxes, no waiting: type what you got and what it was out of and the percentage and the letter are there before you finish typing. Twelve of 15 is 80.00% and a B-. Nothing is uploaded, no account is asked for, and the letter comes off a scale you can see and switch, with the full band table printed under the tool.

Worked examples

Each one runs through the same code the page above does, on the plus / minus scale, so switching the scale moves them too.

The scale in use

Every band includes its own floor and runs up to the next one, so 89.99% is a B+ and 90% is an A-. Nothing is rounded on the way to a letter.

What this is exact about. Exact arithmetic on the points you enter, against the scale you choose. It cannot know your school's rounding rule, a dropped lowest score or extra credit, so set the scale and check the syllabus before you read the letter.

Common questions

What is the quickest way to turn a score into a letter grade?
Put the points you scored in Earned and the total in Possible. Twelve of 15 is 80.00%, a B- on the plus/minus scale. There is no calculate button and no page reload: the number updates on every keystroke, so correcting a typo is instant.
Can I check a whole term this way?
Switch the Mode control to Points and every assignment gets a row, with the term total and its letter at the top. Whatever you typed here stays in the first row, so nothing is lost in the switch. Weighted mode is there for a course graded by category weight.
Does it round the percentage up to the next letter?
No. Bands include their own floor and stop below the next one, so 89.99% is a B+ and only 90% is an A-. The percentage is shown to two decimals and the letter is read off the unrounded figure, because a rounding rule is something a syllabus decides and this page has not read yours.
What if my school uses whole letters with no plus or minus?
Set the Scale control to Whole letter. An A then starts at 90, a B at 80, a C at 70 and a D at 60, and the same 88.00% that is a B+ on the plus/minus scale becomes a plain B. The band table under the calculator redraws to match whichever one is selected.
Is anything saved or sent?
Nothing is sent anywhere. The score is kept in this browser's own storage so the box is still filled in if you come back, and clearing your browser data clears it. There is no sign-in and no upload at any point.
