Resize for Instagram Without Cropping
Keep every edge of the photo while creating a 1080 by 1080 square. This page starts in Pad mode: the photo fits inside the canvas without stretching, and any remaining space is white. Upload one image or a batch, check the preview, then download. For a portrait box, change the height to 1350; for a 9:16 story image, use 1920.

The aspect is unlocked, so the box can be any shape you type. Pad: Keeps the whole picture inside the exact box, with white padding on the remaining sides. A side that works out fractional is rounded to the nearest whole pixel, and never to nothing. Saving several files at once may ask your browser for permission the first time.
Common questions
- How does it keep the whole picture?
- Pad scales both sides by the same amount until the photo fits inside the requested canvas, centres it, and fills the unused space with white. A 400 by 200 photo on a 1080 by 1080 canvas becomes 1080 by 540, with 270 pixels of white above and below. The enlargement is interpolation and does not add detail.
- Can I keep the entire photo without white borders?
- Only when the photo already has the same aspect ratio as the target. Otherwise the extra canvas needs padding, the photo needs cropping, or its shape needs stretching. This preset uses white padding and does not offer blurred, coloured or AI-generated backgrounds. Fit avoids padding by returning a smaller canvas; it does not force a mismatched photo into a square.
- Will Instagram display it exactly like this preview?
- The download has the dimensions shown here. Instagram may resize it or use a different crop for a profile, feed, story or cover preview, so check inside the app before posting. This page prepares an image and does not access your Instagram account.
- Can I pad multiple photos or a video?
- Multiple still images can be processed with Download all. Each is fitted using its own aspect ratio. Video is not supported, and an animated image becomes one still frame in this resizer; use GIF Resizer when a GIF needs to stay animated.
The preview and queue show the exact output pixel dimensions. Fit preserves the whole image inside the target box; Fill crops it; Pad adds white space; Stretch distorts it. Enlarging interpolates existing pixels and cannot recover missing detail.
