JSON Schema to TypeScript
This page selects JSON Schema input and TypeScript output. Paste one schema and Generate types, or Load example to inspect an Order schema with a local $defs/Item reference. Declared required properties, nullable types, enums and supported alternatives guide the generated declarations. Local references are resolved inside the pasted document; external files and URLs are refused. The report distinguishes type information from constraints that generated types cannot enforce.

Common questions
- Which schema references are followed?
- Local JSON pointers into the same pasted document, including $defs and definitions, can be followed. The tool refuses URL or file references, #name anchors, $dynamicRef and nested $id rather than fetching them.
- Are required fields, nullable types and additional properties kept?
- Supported required fields remain required unless you explicitly select Every field optional. Null in a type alternative becomes a nullable union. Objects that allow extra properties can get a TypeScript index signature. Inspect the report and generated declarations for the exact result.
- Does the generated code enforce pattern, minimum or format?
- No. Static TypeScript declarations cannot establish those rules for runtime input. Such constraints are identified in the report. This page generates supported types rather than performing full JSON Schema validation or creating Zod validators.
- Is this the json-schema-to-typescript npm package?
- No. It is a browser generator using pinned quicktype-core 26.0.0, with its own supported-schema checks. It does not install, configure or replicate every feature of a CLI or npm package.
Sample inference cannot know absent fields or all future types. No execution or automatic API calls.
