Lorem Ipsum by Word Count
Start with exactly 100 placeholder words and change the custom count to fit your layout. Words mode keeps complete words, unlike exact character length. The traditional opening and HTML preferences restore independently; generated words count once even when the opening is enabled.
Characters counts the generated plain content, including spaces and punctuation. HTML tags add characters outside that requested count. Words allows up to 10,000; Characters up to 100,000; other modes up to 200.
Every paragraph is composed fresh from the Latin of Cicero’s De Finibus, the passage this placeholder was corrupted from in the 1500s. Looping one stock paragraph would hide the wrapping and line-length problems placeholder text exists to reveal.
Common questions
- Can I request fewer than the opening’s eight words?
- Yes. The opening is cut at a word boundary to the requested count. One word produces Lorem when the opening option is enabled.
- Will 100 words always have the same character length?
- No. Words are selected from the placeholder vocabulary, so character length varies. Choose Characters when you need a fixed length instead.
- Do HTML tags count as words?
- The requested word count applies to the text content. HTML adds markup around it without adding content words.
