3 Times Table
The trick for the 3 times table is to skip-count in threes, 3, 6, 9, 12, adding 3 to the answer before, and the digits of every answer add up to 3, 6 or 9. This page opens the multiplication table with the 3 row lit, writes out 3 × 1 to 3 × 12 = 36 with the working for each fact, and prints as a clean sheet.

- Skip-count in threes: 3, 6, 9, 12. Each answer is the one before it plus 3, and the digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 3. Take 3 × 9: 3 × 8 = 24, and 24 + 3 = 27.
- What is 3 × 8?
- 3 × 8 = 24. Count on from 3 × 7 = 21: 21 + 3 = 24. Or double 8 to get 16 and add one more 8. Check it: 2 + 4 = 6, which is a multiple of 3.
- What pattern do the answers in the 3 times table follow?
- The digits of every answer add up to 3, 6 or 9: 12 gives 3, 15 gives 6, 18 gives 9, 21 gives 3 again, and so on up to 36, which gives 9. The answers also alternate odd and even, 3, 6, 9, 12, because adding 3 flips odd to even and back. The 6 times table is this one doubled.
