5K Pace Calculator
Turn a 5K goal time into the pace per kilometre and per mile it takes, or a pace into the finish it predicts, over exactly 5 km. The splits table lists each kilometre or mile at an even pace, and the chart under the tool runs from 15:00 to 45:00 a minute at a time so a target can be read off without typing anything.
Time reads as h:mm:ss or mm:ss, pace as m:ss, and a bare number is minutes. Changing a unit converts the value with it, and the Race seg sets the official distance: a half marathon is 21.0975 km, not 21.1.
Splits
Every km at an even 5:00 per km, then the finish.

Common questions
- What pace is a 25-minute 5K?
- 5:00 per kilometre, or 8:03 per mile: 1,500 seconds over 5 km. A 20-minute 5K needs 4:00 per km (6:26 per mile) and a 30-minute 5K needs 6:00 per km (9:39 per mile). All three are rows in the chart under the tool, which runs a minute at a time from 15:00 to 45:00.
- How many miles is a 5K?
- 3.1069 miles. Switch the distance unit seg to mi and the field converts to that figure, and the splits table changes to one row per mile with a finish row for the last 0.11 of a mile. Typing 3.1 instead gives a course about 11 metres short.
- Why does the calculator show km/h and mph?
- For treadmills and for anyone who thinks in speed. 5:00 per km is 12 km/h, or 7.46 mph, and the line under the pace shows both every time. Treadmill belts are calibrated loosely, so treat the figure as a starting setting rather than a road-equivalent effort.
- Are the splits even?
- Yes. Every kilometre in the table takes the same time; that is the average to plan around. A 5K is often run with a fast first kilometre and a slower middle, and the table does not model that. If you want a negative split, run the first two kilometres a few seconds slower than the row and the last two faster.
Pace, time and distance are solved exactly from the two you give, and splits assume an even pace. Race distances are the official ones: a half marathon is 21.0975 km.
