A logo is optional. It covers modules in the middle of the code, so each code is read back with the logo in place before it can be saved. The background stays white, and a code colour needs a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 against it.

Worked examples

  • Unicode payloadGrüße aus Köln
decoded by an independent reader, identical
  • 500 CSV rowssome labels repeat
500 uniquely named files, a repeat gets -2, -3 in row order
  • Centre logo addederror correction H
kept only if it reads back, otherwise marked failed
Accuracy. Each code holds your text or link itself, with no redirect in between, so it never expires and no scan is counted. Every code is read back by a separate decoder before it can be downloaded, with a quiet zone of at least 4 modules; a logo covers modules and lowers readability, so a code that fails the read back is marked failed, and one that passes here can still fail on some cameras. Payment codes (UPI, bank transfer, crypto and merchant payment formats) are refused.

Common questions

How do I make a QR code for a link?
Copy the address from your browser and paste it into the Link field, replacing the example. A bare domain such as cafe.example/menu gets https:// added in front so a phone opens it as a link. The code redraws as you type and is read back; when the status says read back, match, press Download PNG for an image or Download SVG for print. Turn Label under code on to print a word such as Menu below it.
Does the code expire, and do I need an account?
No to both. This is a static QR code: the link itself is written into the pattern, so it works for as long as the link does, with nothing to sign up for and no plan behind it. A dynamic code from a subscription service holds the service's short link instead, which lets them change the destination or count scans, and can stop working when the plan ends. The cost of static is that a printed code cannot be pointed elsewhere later: make and print a new one.
Which links can it hold?
Any web address: a website or menu, a Google Form, the review link for a business, a YouTube video, a LinkedIn, Facebook or TikTok profile, a Spotify track, an RSVP page, or a PDF that is already online, such as a shared Google Drive file. For a WhatsApp chat, use https://wa.me/ followed by the phone number with its country code, digits only. The code holds the link as you paste it, so test it in a browser first.
How large can I download it?
Choose an image size of 256, 512, 1,024 or 2,048 pixels for the PNG; 2,048 is the high-resolution choice for print. The SVG is drawn from the same modules as the checked image and stays sharp at any print size, which suits posters, menus and packaging.
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows?
Yes. It runs in any current browser, Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install. The code is made in this tab and the link is not uploaded.
