iPad Screen Sizes by Model
iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini and standard iPad models from the 9.7-inch Retina iPads on, with the screen in inches and centimetres, the panel resolution and the size a browser on it reports. Open this page on an iPad and every model that reports the same size as the one in your hand is marked: several models often share a size, and a browser cannot tell them apart.
Nothing here is sent anywhere: the page asks your own browser what it knows and prints the answer. The figures refresh on their own when the window changes size or the device turns, so you can drag the window and watch the viewport follow.
iPad screen sizes by model
Diagonal and panel pixels are the maker's published figures. The last column is what a browser on that model reports at the default display setting, in CSS pixels and device pixel ratio, which is how this page marks the models that share your screen's reading. Several models can share one reading, so a mark narrows it down rather than naming your model.
A row with nothing in the last column has no confirmed browser reading yet, so it is never marked.

Measure a screen by hand
Run a tape measure across the lit picture only, not the frame around it: the width along the bottom edge and the height up one side. Type both here and the diagonal comes back, which is the number a TV, monitor, laptop, tablet or phone is sold by.
- Enter a width and a height to see the diagonal.
Common resolutions
Names and examples for familiar resolutions, with their exact aspect ratios. Phone and tablet rows use CSS pixels; display rows use panel pixels. Browser zoom and display scaling affect how the reported readings relate to these examples. Your own screen is marked when its reported resolution matches a named row.

Common questions
- What size wallpaper fits my iPad?
- The panel pixels column, which is the full grid of the screen. A 13-inch iPad Pro with M4 or later is 2064 × 2752, an 11-inch iPad Air or the iPad (A16) is 1640 × 2360, and an iPad mini 6 is 1488 × 2266. An iPad turns, so a wallpaper that fills both ways needs the longer side in both directions.
- Why does my iPad report 820 × 1180 when the screen is 1640 × 2360?
- A browser reports CSS pixels, and every iPad in the table uses two screen dots for each one in each direction: 820 × 2 is 1640 and 1180 × 2 is 2360. The Physical row multiplies the reported size back to the panel.
- Is the iPad (A16) the same screen as the 10th-generation iPad?
- They share a 1640 × 2360 panel and report the same 820 × 1180 to a browser. Apple sells the 10th generation as 10.9-inch and the A16 model as 11-inch, and measures both at 10.86 inches as a rectangle.
- Which iPad has the biggest screen?
- The 13-inch iPad Pro and the 13-inch iPad Air. Apple sells the Air as 13-inch and measures it at 12.9 inches as a rectangle, because it has the same 2048 × 2732 panel as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro before it. The 13-inch iPad Pro with M4 or later has a larger 2064 × 2752 panel. The smallest current screen is the iPad mini at 8.3 inches.
- Does it measure the iPad's screen itself?
- It reads the resolution and pixel ratio from the browser and marks every model in the table that reports the same pair, which can be several. The inches come from Apple's published figure for each model, because no browser reports the physical size of a screen.
Exact for what the browser reports: the screen in CSS pixels, the device pixel ratio and the viewport. The physical size in inches and the true DPI are not reported by any browser, so they are not claimed.
