Small White Dog Breeds

This page opens the small breed table searched for white: five breeds whose breed standard describes a white coat, each with its typical adult weight and height, coat, how much the coat is described as dropping and how much the breed moves. They are the Maltese, the smallest at 4 to 7 lb, the toy American Eskimo Dog, the Coton de Tulear, the Bichon Frise and the West Highland White Terrier. Four of the five are marked low shedding; the American Eskimo Dog's dense double coat is marked high. Many other small breeds also come in white among other colors, so clear the search to see the whole table.

Typical ranges, not a promise about a dog. Typical adult ranges from published breed-standard descriptions, filtered and sorted exactly as you set them. An individual dog lands inside or outside these ranges, so this describes a breed and never predicts a dog. The table filters and sorts and stops there: it does not score breeds, rank them or tell you which one belongs in your home, and it carries no health, feeding or training claim. Nothing is uploaded, and your filters are kept in this browser only.

Common questions

Why are Poodles and Pomeranians not on this list?
Because their standards allow many colors, white among them, and the table does not list every color a breed allows. This list is only the breeds whose standard describes a white dog. The Poodles, the Pomeranian, the Havanese and the Chihuahua all come in white as well.
Which small white breeds shed the least?
The Maltese, the Coton de Tulear, the Bichon Frise and the West Highland White Terrier are all marked low shedding. The American Eskimo Dog is marked high. Set the shedding control to Low to keep the four.
Which white breed is the smallest?
The Maltese, at a typical 4 to 7 lb and 7 to 9 in at the withers. The toy American Eskimo Dog runs 6 to 10 lb, the Coton de Tulear 8 to 15, the Bichon Frise 12 to 18 and the Westie 15 to 20.
