CSV or XLSX to PDF

Make a printable PDF table from a CSV, TSV or one worksheet in an XLSX file. PDF output is selected on this page. Open the file, choose the sheet, then select Letter or A4, portrait or landscape and a text size. The preview shows the new table layout and page count before you download. Original Excel formatting and print settings are not reproduced.

  • SKU 0012, a text cellCSV to XLSX, then read back
0012 as text, never the number 12
  • =not-a-formula in a CSV cellconverted to XLSX
a text cell reading =not-a-formula, never a formula
  • "Bolt, M6" and a two-line cellCSV out, then read back in
quoted on the way out, identical on the way back
Accuracy. Formula cells export the value the file last saved, not a fresh calculation, and a formula with no saved value is listed and left empty rather than guessed. Text such as 0012 or =not-a-formula stays text unless you change its column type. Only cell values move between formats: styles, merged cells, charts and comments are named on screen, not carried.

Common questions

How do I convert a CSV file to PDF?
Open the CSV and check the input delimiter and First row is a header setting. Keep PDF output selected, choose paper, orientation and text size, and review the preview pages. Download writes all rows of the selected table, not just the currently previewed page. TSV follows the same workflow.
Can I save just one Excel worksheet as PDF?
Yes. Open an XLSX workbook and choose the sheet in the first pane. Download exports that sheet’s table of values. There is no selected-cell print-area control or one-click export of every sheet. For separate sheets, download each PDF and combine them with <a href="/pdf-merger">PDF Merger</a> if needed. Legacy XLS and XLSB files must first be saved as XLSX or CSV elsewhere.
How do I make a landscape PDF without cutting off columns?
Choose Landscape and review the page preview. You can use 8-point instead of 10-point text. If the columns still exceed the page width, they are printed in horizontal groups across separate pages: all rows for the first group of columns, then all rows for the next. Landscape does not guarantee a one-page result, and there is no fit-entire-sheet-to-one-page setting.
Will the PDF preserve formulas, formatting and merged cells?
It writes a fresh table layout from cell values. XLSX formulas use the values saved in the source workbook; they are not recalculated, and missing saved values are left empty and listed. Fonts, colors, charts, comments, merged-cell layouts and Excel print areas are not reproduced. Use Excel’s own PDF export if those features must be kept.
Why are some PDF characters replaced with question marks?
The PDF uses built-in Helvetica with Western European coverage. Unsupported characters, including many scripts and emoji, become question marks, and the converter counts them. CSV, TSV and XLSX outputs retain those characters. Review the preview and notices before sharing the PDF.
Can I make a PDF on Mac or a phone without Excel?
Use a current browser, choose a local CSV, TSV or XLSX file and download the PDF directly. No Excel installation, account or upload is needed. Large workbooks still depend on device memory. A table is limited to 10,000,000 cells including blanks, and PDF layout stops at 1,000 pages.
Can I turn the PDF back into CSV or edit the table here?
This page converts spreadsheet values into a PDF. For the reverse direction, use <a href="/pdf-table-extractor">PDF Table Extractor</a> and check the extracted cells. To edit individual values before printing, open a CSV in <a href="/spreadsheet-editor">Spreadsheet Editor</a>, save the edited CSV and reopen it here.
