SQL Minifier That Preserves Comments & Hints

Choose Minify to compact whitespace into a separate output without overwriting your SQL input. This workflow preserves comment text, optimizer hints, MySQL executable comments, quoted values and keyword casing. It keeps token boundaries rather than removing every space. Line comments and gaps after quoted literals can retain newlines, so the result may remain multiline. Select the dialect that matches the source before compacting it.

Minify compresses whitespace and preserves comments, hints, literal values and keyword case. Line comments and gaps after quoted literals keep a newline; output can remain multiline. SQL stays in this browser. Your input and settings are remembered in local browser storage; Start over clears them.

Common questions

Why are comments retained instead of removed?
Comments may be optimizer hints, executable MySQL syntax or meaningful directives. Removing them can change behavior. This minifier keeps comment text and compresses surrounding whitespace.
Will I always get one line?
No. A line comment must end before following SQL can run, and a newline between quoted strings can carry meaning. Newlines inside literal values and comments also stay. SQL without those cases can compact to one line.
Does minifying validate SQL or compress a file into ZIP?
No. Minify is conservative text whitespace compaction, not complete grammar validation, query optimization or archive compression. Formatting and executing a query are separate jobs.

Formats SQL statements for the selected dialect; it does not execute SQL, check database objects, optimize queries or validate a complete SQL grammar. Stored procedures and client batch directives are outside its scope. Minify preserves comments and quoted values and can retain meaningful newlines.
