Oracle SQL Formatter

Select the Oracle SQL dialect and format statements with :bind variables, FETCH FIRST and alternative quotes such as q'[it’s a literal]'. The editable sample demonstrates these features together. This workflow is for Oracle SQL statements. A complete PL/SQL block, procedure, package or SQL*Plus script needs a formatter for that procedural or client environment.

Formatting arranges SQL statements for the selected dialect. It does not execute queries, validate database objects or optimize performance. Stored procedures and client batch directives are outside this formatter’s scope. SQL stays in this browser. Your input and settings are remembered in local browser storage; Start over clears them.

Common questions

Does the Oracle dialect name imply full PL/SQL support?
No. The underlying formatter calls this dialect plsql, but its documented scope excludes stored procedures. This page promises Oracle SQL statement formatting, not complete PL/SQL program or package formatting.
Can I include SQL*Plus slash terminators?
A slash on its own line is refused as a client directive. Paste SQL statements without SQL*Plus commands and keep their semicolon terminators where appropriate.
Are q quotes and bind variables preserved?
The Oracle sample and fixtures cover q'[...]' alternative quotes and :department_id bind variables. Quoted values stay intact; the formatter does not substitute parameter values or execute statements.

Formats SQL statements for the selected dialect; it does not execute SQL, check database objects, optimize queries or validate a complete SQL grammar. Stored procedures and client batch directives are outside its scope. Minify preserves comments and quoted values and can retain meaningful newlines.
