Common questions
- Which states are in the Northeast quiz?
- New England: Connecticut (Hartford), Maine (Augusta), Massachusetts (Boston), New Hampshire (Concord), Rhode Island (Providence), Vermont (Montpelier). Middle Atlantic: New Jersey (Trenton), New York (Albany), Pennsylvania (Harrisburg). These are the two US Census Bureau divisions of the Northeast region. Many school lists of the Mid-Atlantic also include Delaware and Maryland, which the Census places in the South. For that list, open Select states, untick the six New England states, tick Delaware and Maryland, and set Quiz length to 5.
- Can I quiz only New England or the Middle Atlantic states?
- Yes. Open Select states and untick the division you do not want: New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania for a New England quiz, or the six New England states for a Middle Atlantic quiz. Then set Quiz length to 6 or 3.
- Can I make it a map quiz, print it or send it to a class?
- Yes. Change Question mode to Map → state name or Capital → state, or Answer format to Typed answer. Open printable worksheet gives highlighted-map questions for these 9 states, a matching page with the capitals in shuffled order, and an answer key for both. Share this quiz shows a link to copy that opens the same Northeast states, length and seed, with no account.
- How do I switch to another region or all 50 states?
- Open Select states under Practice settings. The Northeast, Midwest, South and West buttons select a whole Census region and set the quiz length to match; Select all states brings back all 50, then set Quiz length (50 asks every state once).
