Common questions

Which states are in the Southern states quiz?
South Atlantic: Delaware (Dover), Florida (Tallahassee), Georgia (Atlanta), Maryland (Annapolis), North Carolina (Raleigh), South Carolina (Columbia), Virginia (Richmond), West Virginia (Charleston). East South Central: Alabama (Montgomery), Kentucky (Frankfort), Mississippi (Jackson), Tennessee (Nashville). West South Central: Arkansas (Little Rock), Louisiana (Baton Rouge), Oklahoma (Oklahoma City), Texas (Austin). Washington, DC is in the Census South but is not a state, so it is not quizzed.
Is this the same as a Southeast quiz?
Not quite. Textbooks define the Southeast differently, and the Census South also includes states such as Texas, Oklahoma, Delaware and Maryland. For your class’s list, open Select states, untick the states it leaves out, set Quiz length to the number left and press Share this quiz to keep that set.
Can I make it a map quiz, print it or send it to a class?
Yes. Change Question mode to Map → state name or Capital → state, or Answer format to Typed answer. Open printable worksheet gives highlighted-map questions for these 16 states, a matching page with the capitals in shuffled order, and an answer key for both. Share this quiz shows a link to copy that opens the same Southern states, length and seed, with no account.
How do I switch to another region or all 50 states?
Open Select states under Practice settings. The Northeast, Midwest, South and West buttons select a whole Census region and set the quiz length to match; Select all states brings back all 50, then set Quiz length (50 asks every state once).
