4 Letter Wordle Solver

This page opens the solver on a four-square grid for games played with four-letter words. Enter each guess, press a square to set its colour, and the panel narrows the 3,903 four-letter words in the ENABLE dictionary to those your clues still allow.

A tile takes a letter from the keyboard and cycles grey, green, yellow when you press it. Arrow keys move around the grid, backspace clears, and Escape empties the row you are in. A row counts once all four of its letters are typed, so a half-finished guess never narrows the list behind your back. The Letters buttons set the word length, and each length keeps its own board. On a touch screen, use the letter keys above: each one types into the square with the ring around it, and a key goes dim once a guess has ruled that letter out.

Why a second E can come back grey. The game marks a guess left to right: greens first, then one yellow for each copy of a letter the answer still has spare. Guess an E twice against an answer holding one and the first E comes back yellow, the second grey. That grey is a count, not an exclusion: it says the answer holds exactly one E, and none in either of those two squares. A solver that reads it as “no E” throws the answer away, which is the mistake this page exists to avoid.
The word list. 172,823 words of public-domain ENABLE, 3,903 of them four letters long, already served on this site for the anagram solver. It is a dictionary, not the game’s answer list, so it holds words the game will refuse, and it cannot tell you what today’s answer is.
Accuracy. Exact against the word list it ships with: every word shown satisfies every clue you entered, and repeated letters are counted rather than guessed. The list is the public-domain ENABLE dictionary, not the game's own answer list, so a word here may not be accepted and today's answer cannot be known from this page.

Common questions

Can I enter letters I know without a real guess?
Yes. Type any four letters into a row and mark them as what you know: a letter fixed in its square green, a letter in the word but elsewhere yellow, a letter ruled out grey. A row does not have to be a guess you actually played.
What if no word fits?
Then no four-letter word in the ENABLE list matches those colours together. Check for a square left green that should be yellow, which is the usual cause. If two marks contradict each other outright, the page names the conflict instead of showing an empty list.
