Ignition Terms of Use
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Acceptance
By downloading or using Ignition: Car Maintenance Log (“Ignition”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Ignition is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). These terms add details specific to Ignition; where they conflict with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA controls. Ignition is operated by Harsh Patel.
What Ignition is
Ignition is a personal car maintenance record. It helps you keep a care plan, reminders by date or mileage, a log of services, repairs, upgrades and fill-ups, fuel economy and cost figures, document photos and NHTSA recall lookups for your vehicles.
What Ignition is not
Ignition is not a mechanic, an inspection or a substitute for your vehicle’s owner’s manual, your dealer or a qualified technician. Service intervals and due dates are estimates based on the information and odometer readings you enter.
Recall information comes from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and may be incomplete, delayed or not apply to your exact vehicle. Background recall checks run when iOS allows and are not instant. Always confirm recalls with your dealer or at nhtsa.gov.
Scanned text, VIN decoding, fuel economy and cost totals can contain errors. Check them before relying on them.
Ignition does not replace the original insurance, registration or title documents you may be legally required to carry.
Your content
The records, photos and documents you add belong to you. We do not claim ownership of your content. It stays on your iPhone, and in your private iCloud while Ignition Pro sync is active, unless you export or share it.
Free and Pro
The free plan includes one car with its care plan, reminders, journal, fuel economy, glovebox, odometer and document scans, check-ins, trophies, manual recall checks and 5 receipt smart fills.
Ignition Pro adds unlimited cars, the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, automatic recall checks, widgets, iCloud sync, unlimited receipt smart fills, a service history PDF and cost breakdowns.
If Pro ends, your records stay on your iPhone and remain yours. Your first car keeps working on the free plan; additional cars are parked, with their history kept and logging and reminders for them paused until Pro returns. iCloud sync pauses.
We may change features or limits in future versions. Records you already created remain yours.
Subscriptions
Ignition Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly ($3.99 per month) or yearly ($19.99 per year) in the United States. Prices vary by country and region; the exact price is shown in the app and in Apple’s purchase sheet before you buy.
Eligible new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the price shown. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
After Pro ends, some people may be offered 50% off their first year of the yearly plan for a limited time. The offer price and the renewal price after the first year are shown before you confirm.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
Manage or cancel anytime in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Apple handles billing and refunds. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We never receive your payment card details.

Use Ignition only for lawful, personal record keeping.
Do not attempt to disrupt the app or its services, bypass subscriptions, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.

Third-party services
Ignition uses Apple services, NHTSA public data and Wikimedia Commons images. Their availability and accuracy are outside our control, and car photos from Wikimedia Commons remain subject to their own licenses and credits. See the privacy policy for what each service receives.
Availability and changes
Ignition is provided “as is” and may contain bugs or interruptions. We may update, change, suspend or discontinue parts of the app. If these terms materially change, we will update this page and the date above.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Harsh Patel is not liable for vehicle damage, breakdowns, missed services, recall outcomes, fines, lost data, or indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of Ignition, and total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Ignition in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
